So when they increase rates they get more tax money? Essentially we’re paying 100% for gas and over that for taxes on electric. No wonder they want it hidden from the public.

National Grid and others pushed to get a separate line on each customer bill, to show exactly how much is going to the state.
The PSC sided against that, and concluded it would be too confusing.
Instead they said "these utilities should however track these costs separately" for customers.
The I-Team reached out to the PSC to find out if they are considering making a change and giving the utility companies what they asked )
Just and reasonable rates my ass , and a separate line item would be too confusing my ass . Those pricks don't want the consumer to know how much NYS is screwing them.

Here in TN, there is one line on my bill - Electric Charges. It's quite confusing.

The State's vig is much greater than this piece suggests and it has been illegal in NY for utilities to inform rate payers how much of their bill is actually "tax". Since Mario el'duce days the democrats have prevented changes that provide full accurate disclosure.
