hey cops .. you have no duty to show up and help ..
Stand Down ..
1) the "cops" in the vid have virtually no training. Never seen such an amateurish entry - they're lucky he wasn't home.
But more importantly....
2) why in the name of fuck would anyone think an "electronic" lock of any kind is a good security solution?
It's not.
You want to secure your doors...
1) no windows in the doors themselves or near them - sorry "home fashion" metrosexuals, you might as well hang a hammer next to the door on the outside for all the good it will do tou.
2) install a steel security door that opens outward, with 3 heavy duty hinges.
3) install panoramic peep hole in door
4) install one of these in each hinge - the door then can't be removed by punching the pins.

5) And get a REAL deadbolt, not some Home Depot rubbish. And, NO, Schlage doesn't make a high-end security deadbolt.
This is what we use - it's all metal construction and is pick-proof, bump proof, can't be "bolt walked" with a knife, bolt is completely resistant to a carbide blade saw, almost totally immune to anything short of completely ripping the door frame from the house or detcord.
And no, they aren't cheap...researched this for over 2 months before dumping the coin on it.

This is what the keys look like - this one is for the Hercular MT5+, an improved Hercular. The keys can't be made without a special machine costing $15-20K. Nearest locksmiths to us that can make the keys are in Syracuse and Albany.
No one's getting one made at the local True Value Hardware - fucking ever.

Cold day in hell giving my code out. Unless they pay for any theft or damages.I've read elsewhere that this was in a HOA neighborhood that requires an entry code to be on file. No idea the validity of that claim.
What kind of lock do you have now?Thinking of going back to a key for my home lock.
Schlage if I remember correctly. Just a convenience factor. What kind of lock do you have now?
Well, they can have *a* code.Cold day in hell giving my code out. Unless they pay for any theft or damages.
Same. I would never move in an HOA community to begin with, and I'd give them a false code of somehow I ended up in one. But some people are not so bright... lol.Cold day in hell giving my code out. Unless they pay for any theft or damages.
We built our house out of ICF, so the exterior walls are 6" steel reinforced concrete layed in a monolithic pour.I don't like electronic locks at all. Not on my house. Not on my personal safe, and not on my gun cabinets.
The fact is though, unless you live in a bunker, an angle grinder and a recip saw will get into your house. A sledge will go through your walls too. I try to have many layers. For regular thrives, motion lights, dog, and cameras are all huge detternts.
For the others, your best bet is cameras and a lawyer.

We have a lot of glass, but I intend to eventually put in some custom security shutters.
