*Fee: $35.00 deposit due at registration

*Main Requirement: Must demonstrate all aspects of firearm safety.

*Short Description: If you own a shotgun but don’t have enough trigger time to be fully comfortable, we have just the right class for you.

This course was designed to introduce the beginner or intermediate shooter to the art of tactical shotgun by improving performance and increase comfort levels.

-Have a "Clean Background Check": As a condition to attend this class, you must have a clean background check.

You have to go through a NICS check to attend the class? How does that work out? I thought NICS was only for purchases, or transfers of firearms.

Im sure he means that you must be legally allowed to possess a firearm. No one runs a nics check unless you are buying a firearm.

In order to attend this class you need to "legally be able to possess a firearm", no NICS check.

The site reads:

Q- How big of an area is needed to host a class?
A- at least 25 yards to shoot on the move, 50 would be perfect or even 100 yards for some long distance slug drills but I'll work with whatever you have.

A- Call me and we'll talk about it.

A- Farmland is fine.

A- It sure is a blast, not many people have the opportunity to manipulate the shotgun in a tactical/combat setting at their local club.

This was supposed to be just a lurker/throwaway account I used to buy some ammo, but I did Al’s shotgun class and he deserves the review.

The value was excellent; it was a small class with students with experience from zero on up. Al did a good job of making the experience unintimidating and safe while pushing students to perform. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone who is new to shotgun, has not taken a tactical class or just wants a brush up on introductory defensive shotgun.

My main use of shotgun is for hunting (and i was the only one in that category) but the safety, handling, stance and targeting drills translate well for that purpose and the setting was perfect for anyone that wants to improve their confidence in shotgun for home defense.

I am under no illusions of my capabilities after this class but it gave me a good starting point to go further.

Been crazy busy with end of the year kid sports but my family let me steal away one Saturday to attend Nicys Intro to Tactical Shotgun. It was an excellent class and after 130+ rounds of birdshot, slug and buckshot, my confidence level in handling the shotgun went way up.

To anyone who does it in the future. Take whatever amount of ammo they suggest and double it. I mistakenly assumed that a bit of a buffer was built into the ammo recommendations and by the end was bumming bird shot and slugs.

With all the extra ammo I had on me, bird, buck and slugs, I was your buffer, lol...

I gave some of the students a few extra rounds at no charge, dont’t rememebr if I gave you some, but most were only short 1 or 2 rounds.

I just hate to see people spending extra money on ammo and not use it in the class.

Point well taken, will adjust the ammo count a bit.

it definitely wasn't a huge issue, just something to keep in mind for those new to classes like this. besides, I've yet to find anybody who I'd expect to be mad for having extra ammo.
