Ever since the formation of Homeland Security under Bush, every single government entity has created their own Special weapons teams, procured weapons and equipment, this also includes local PD's arming street officers with M4's and other tactical gear to include MRAP's and other retire equipment. Most here, I am sure, praised Bush and the the formation of Homeland Security, the Patriot Act...ect but not me. I saw this coming a mile off.

Well, it's here and there isn't much we can do about. I know it's a hard pill to swallow but we, the majority, voted for it. lol

Okay, mistake made, time to move on. The IRS has agents assigned to units that require firearms training and equipment. Every PD officer get a monthly amount of ammo issued for practice at most departments. For the IRS this amounts to about 50rds. Kind of low if you ask me. What bothers me more is that we need to come off as critical thinking, level headed citizens and not some easily trigger bunch of anti government nut jobs that make it on to CNN over training budgets. This article is a fine example of exposing that weakness. If it weren't for the critical mid-term elections, this isn't a story.

Once a better administration is put in and congress, hopefully republican (or libertarian..lol) is in power, we need to pressure them to pull back the funding and material dispersed to these bloated agencies. Local PD's as well. There needs to be a fundamental reset where the government, Fed, State and local, are out of their power trip. Only then will a the idea of a Constitutional Republic return. Today we have two generations of youth programmed that government is the soul power and issuer of rights. That is a tall mountain to climb.

Think about it realistically. For example, if the IRS procured only 9mm ammo (which it probably is not limited to but this is just an example) at a price of, let's say, $10.00 per 50 round box it would work out to them purchasing 70,000 boxes of it. Divide that by the number of IRS agents (approximately 2,000 agents - source) and it works out to 35 boxes of ammo for each agent. My guess, based on my actual work experience, I had collateral duties as an agency firearms instructor for abut 16 years, is that they qualify quarterly, each agent will shoot not only qualifications but also tactical shooting and such each quarter. Many agents, not all, carry two handguns (or at least are issued a backup or authorized to carry a personally owned backup). So many qualify twice n one quarter. Let's guesstimate it is 50% with two carry handguns. That would be 100 rds. to qualify (I am guessing at number or rds but if someone actually knows - clue me in - in my agency it was 50 rds.) for an agent with two handguns. Then 50 rds. each for agents with one handgun. That would be 2,000 boxes of ammo for the two gun agents and 1,000 boxes for the one gun agents each quarter or 12,000 boxes for the year. There very likely also would be another 2 to 4 boxes of handgun ammo used at the range by each agent for tactical exercises each quarter. Let's work with 2 boxes each agent per quarter - that is 16,000 boxes per year. Hmm, we are at 28,000 boxes per year of just handgun ammo. While I limited the cost to only 9mm (to make my math easier early on) let's consider that probably at least 1/4 of the agents also qualify with long guns (shotgun and or rifle). The cost of the long gun ammo could now make the total to buy it all actually surpass what they actually spent.

Do you now think that maybe the purchase was just a normal yearly purchase of ammo or do you honestly really think it is some bold and crafty leftist evil scheme to make it impossible for us to buy ammo? Sure it could be a scheme but only if that $700,000 purchase was one of at least a few made by the IRS within one year. The thing is too many politicians on the right are just as full of shit as those on the left and take advantage of every and anything to try to show the other side as evildoers out to get the people they supposedly represent.
