Looking into first pistol

Going through the county permit now and looking forward to purchasing my first pistol here.

what is everyone ones thoughts on sig p320’s (xcompact)?

also, my buddy carries a sccy cpx2 daily and he has no complaints- the price point seems super cheap. Any thoughts from you guys on their quality/durability?

SIG makes great guns. Also whether first or not everyone and every home should have a gkock 19, the AK of the pistols.

I plan on buying a sig 100%. I was just curious on the sccy brand as a whole for a cheaper pistol alternative. I plan on buying more than 1 and not letting the wife know about it so if I can get a nice sig and a cheaper pistol (sccy) I wouldn’t have complaints as long as they’re reliable and I can tell her I bought $175-2xx worth of accessories for my “1 pistol” haha.

The P320 had issues so they were upgraded with “drop safe parts.”

I was just looking on the Internet after it was posted about here. They seem to be fine?

I’d ask Glock vs sig but I won’t waste anyone’s time as it’s probably comparing oranges to oranges and all personal preference.

Sig was the first pistol I ever purchased. In fact it was the P250 (the DAO version prior the P320) that was my first pistol purchase. When the P320 came out I purchased that too and never had an issue with it (other then sending it back to the factory for the drop safe parts). A great all around gun for a first timer imo.

I personally don’t like the glock’s grip angle. That being said I have built several Poly 80 pistols because they changed the angle of the grip but it accepts all glock and aftermarket parts.
If the glock is the AK of pistols
The P320 is the AR15 of pistols.

I bought 5 sig p320 “receivers” for 50 bucks on gun broker. Then bought the parts kit and the conversion kits to build them one at a time.

Another lower cost but nice Sig choice is the SP2022.

Decide what caliber you want. Next decide what size gun you want.

Check out all different makes & models.
Look at all of the reputable brands with proven track records - Ruger, Smith & Wesson, Glock, Sig, etc.

Buy the one that fits your hand the best.

The 320x compact is a fantastic firearm. Trigger is great, grip and grip angle are excellent. I'd skip the SCCY. Get the Taurus G2C . It can be had until the end of the year for $175 after rebate. I have one and it's NEVER missed a beat. I have guns that cost 4 times as much that I can't say that about.

Cant go wrong with any Sig.
Also cant go wrong with a Glock.
The Sig will be prettier.
Glock is less expensive and ultra reliable.
The SCCY CPX 2 has some great reviews and the price is great.
The SCCY CPX (1), arent as good.

There are also some other decent less expensive options out there.

Rock Island
ATI
S&W Shield
And many more in the $300-$400 range.

The SCCY is a very good EDC for the money. It's been reliable, easy to take down for cleaning.

Other gun you can’t go wrong with IMO is the Ruger sr9c for like $320. I have the LCPII and love it. That’s just the same gun in 9mm and a bit larger. You can also get the mid sized sr9 so you’d basically have 3 of the same gun, same controls, in 3 formats and 2 calibers.

Either your friend is lying about not having issues or he just doesnt shoot.

Pretty much any of the top level (yes even sig usa) polymer striker fired gun will do just fine (hk, sig, glock, cz, fn, sw)

No G19 here.

I do have a G26 and a spacer to give a full grip with a G19 mag in it though.

That seems more versatile to me. I'm not really giving up anything, but a simple mag swap makes it much more concealable.

I really like the LCP II for a cheap easy to carry gun.

Get the LCP II though, the trigger on the original LCP sucks.
