Im guessing he had a code douche that has a power complex. I have run into so many of these assholes, so I kinda know what he's feeling. there were more than a few times I wanted to break a 2x4 over there head. the problem now, is the code douche has the law on his side.
If the guy had a problem with this asshole, he should have taken it the the board, or complained to the planning board.

A few years back, I noticed a lot where the owner was tearing down the house, but had not torn down a large storage shed on the property. So, I stopped and asked him about it as I was looking for one at the time.
He said he had been holding it for a guy who had initially expressed interest, but who had since disappeared. He said if I wanted it I could have it for free, but had to get it moved ASAP.
So, I found a guy with a roll away flat bed tow truck who was willing to pick it up and move it onto my property for a hundred bucks on Saturday. Done!
On Monday at 8AM, the local building inspector showed up, slapped me with a fine for having an unlicensed structure with no permit. Of course, their office didn’t even open until later that morning, asshole!
I asked him what his problem was, and he told me that I had taken HIS storage shed! I told him “your loss”.
I went inside and printed up a big ass sign that said “PODS” and hung it on the shed. I went to town court and got the ticket dismissed as it was a “temporary moving container”. And then I left it in front of my property for a month or so where building inspector dickhead had to drive by it everyday. Later, I went and got a permit for it and moved it to the back of the property.
I made sure to set it more than 10’ away from the property line. Of course, he came out and measured it anyway.
Haven‘t run into any of those petty little tyrants down here in the Carolinas. Just one more reason I don’t miss NYS.
