Monroe county amendment time via mail

Kind of an addition to the monroe county pistol permit playoff beard thread, but for adding my first pistol.

Firearm amendments can be done in the clerk's office directly and in person, but as of today's date, July 26th, 2022 their online appointment calendar is book until Friday, August 12th, 2022. With that delay in mind I've decided to mail it in to see if it's faster than an appointment. Paperwork filled out and triple checked. Will be dropped off at a local post office today, Tuesday, July 26, 2022 by noon as that particular mailbox at that post office picks up @12:30 pm. No beard growth this time lol. The game is to see if mailing the amendments paperwork ( which claims to be less than 2 weeks) is actually faster than booking an appointment.

Let the games commence.

I agree with all of this but was informed by a fellow gun owner who tried without an appointment he was turned away.

I've been in twice without an appt. I just went to the counter and said "Hi, I have a 2:30 to add a pistol" Took me without question.

Today marks 1 week since the amendment request was mailed. It with not be received today, Tuesday, August 2nd. The original goal was to beat the , at that time, August 12th next available in person appointment. 10 days remain.

A side note- I have seen appointments become available in the interim, most likely due to cancellations. In the future I will do as suggested above and either;

A) Look daily for an appointment someone else has canceled or
B) Walk in, claim an appointment time and proceed with the transaction.

Either above will obviously be faster. Until next Tuesday, August 9th or a coupon is received, signing off.

Update- upon reviewing the mail to be recieved tomorrow via the USPS app, it seems that I shall be receiving something from the clerks office Wednesday, August 3rd. My hope is that it's my amended permit including my new firearm. More to follow once the mail is received.

The bet paid off.

The amendment was mailed July 26th 2022 @ noon. An amended permit and purchase coupon was received today, Wednesday, August 3rd 2022 @ 2:30 pm. Total time, 1 week. The date to beat was August 12th, the next available in person date. 9 days earlier than the appointment.
The faster route was mentioned above obviously, drop in and try.
