7.62 CETME is lower pressure and is for the FR7.

Nope. The FR8 is built on the large ring Mauser.

From what I've read, these rifles were bought from the Spanish about 2005 or so from a major importer when they no longer had a need for them. From there, they were sold pretty quickly and probably went right into collectors hands, which is why you don't see them for sale very often.

Open rear sight for 100 meters.

Turn the dial to the peep sight settings for 200, 300, and 400 meters respectively.

The flash hider and the end of the tube are for bayonet mounting, but that is not their only function.

The flash hider is also used for grenade launching.

The tube is also storage for the cleaning kit.

I had been avoiding getting into Mausers in general, because I didn't want to get into another caliber, and I know there are umpteen variations of them. When I first saw this rifle in a fairly local gun shop, my first thought was what kind of Frankengun is this? It looked like it had a gas tube, yet it was a bolt action.

So I researched it, and decided I had to have it, because it was so unique, and yet it shoots the very popular caliber .308 round.

It's a weapon of many traditionalist's dreams. Bolt action, Open adjustable irons, flash suppressor, and cleaning kit that is easily accessible. IMO if I had to choose between a Rem 700 or the FR8, well, you can guess the answer. When you get the time, see if you can get some pics or vid of shooting it, would love to see the capabilities of such a weapon

You can find a couple for sale on GB. Search for Spanish FR8, FR8, or sometimes it is listed incorrectly as FR-8.

This one was a consignment sale, listed for $550, but I talked him down to $500. It came with the sling and cleaning kit, but it didn't have the bayonet. I found a bayo for sale at Collectors outside of Poughkeepsie for $15. You could probably get an FR8 cheaper on GB if you are patient, but right now they seem to be $500 or more.
