My NRA instructor wont sign off on the NJ PTC Safe Handling and Proficiency Certificate.

So basically i was robbed out of my money and collected a door stopper last week, good for nothing. In August I decided to apply for the NJ non-resident CCW. 3 months go by no word from NJ state police. In October NJ state police decides to send out a mass email thirty days after the new CCARE act kicked in, i'm now caught up in the bullshit CCARE act new law neither my NRA Phase 1 and 2 plus the NY 18 hour certificate i presented in August no longer qualifies me.

2 Months go by searching for a NJ CCARE instructor which i did find one that was fit to certify me with NJ CCARE i did the whole nine yards (Bada Bing!). December 3rd i email NJ state police with my door stopper and the very next day NJ emails back with the below. (Let me tell you NJ State police has some good communication skills they response quickly)

All kidding aside. Were you honestly expecting to get approved for a NJ Non Res CCW? Forget about CCARE. Even under the previous qualifications, did you think, even for a split second, that you were going to walk away with a Non Res Permit? Or were you looking to prove a point, make a statement, or had a few extra bucks laying around that you felt like donating to the NJSP Christmas party fund?

I'm befuddled if you thought there was so much as a remote chance they would approve your application. Seriously.

I'm hearing of NYers getting the Jersey CCW permits.

You have to jump through all the hoops exactly as written.

AS a fun side note, anyone who got their Jersey permit before the new training requirement was announced has to requalify or will have their permit revoked - both resident and non-resident.

I have been on and off these boards for years and am perfectly aware of the fact that there are bad actors on here posing as allies but I think this comment is by far one of the most blatant examples of this.

I am not sure if you are a law enforcement officer who really hates the idea of law abiding citizens exercising their constitutional rights or simply are someone who is soured at the idea that this can be done or maybe you aren't either and think by licking the boot heels of law enforcement that it will aid your cause.

Regardless of what your motives are you do yourself no favors in acting like this or posting comments like this especially on a forum that the intent is to aid and assist others of like minds to accomplish as much as possible in this already hostile environment of 2nd amendment advocacy. I choose not to comment when you left this until I concluded my journey as a non-resident of New Jersey.

My request was approved and I was issued a CCW as a NON- Resident of New Jersey after getting the certification completed. The only reason I care to comment on this now is that my hopes are that anyone who reads your nasty comments will not take them to heart and get discouraged by them. We as a community need to show in numbers that we have the rights and the ability to exercise them at all times and as a community can learn from each other's experiences.

So thank you for taking the time to be discouraging and berating it actually motivated me to continue the process. Have the day you deserve.

I was being 100% honest, not trolling, when I posted my sincere doubts. You proved me wrong, for which I'm truly glad you did. I'm also glad you followed up with the results of your application.

I've become so incredibly jaded with regards to my expectations from any of these blue, liberal controlled, anti 2A states, that I am shocked when your results counter those expectations. Kudos to you.

So you took me by surprise. I had expected the opposite response here and I am grateful for this comment and that you took the time to do so.

I too have become incredibly jaded and disillusioned with what seems like a never ending battle for gun rights so I understand your feelings. I could go on for hours about the NYPD "rules" and "regulations" and the hoops and acrobatics that are asked of us to comply with. I do get that it is an uphill battle for most of us.

Truth be told, I was elated and relieved when I read the approval. It somehow gave me a glimmer of hope that perhaps we are on the right track in granting law-abiding citizens their rights and am happy to be able to share the results here.

Not sure why you would be upset at users comments as you clearly know, by the collection of permits received and posted, that every state has its own laws concerning firearms, self defense and hunting. NJ has its own self defense requirements and it likely wants you to be familiar with them. So it is obvious that NY's 18 hour course would not apply as it tests you on article 35 for the certificate.
Congrats on collecting them all. Just keep in mind that they require renewal and the Utah non resident permit has restrictions in certain states and those states only recognize Utah resident permits not non resident.

I realize this topic is several months old, but at of the time of the writing of the above posts, I had my NJ Non-res in hand. I had it since May of 2023. I went to the Sussex NJ State Police Barracks and they put it through in just over 2 months.

I wrote this in case someone was looking for info about NJ and got discouraged by some of the posts. Don't be discouraged. The process is straightforward and, unlike many NY counties, not at all tricky. Just follow the instructions online. I suggest Gun For Hire or RTSP ranges.

I wouldn't give NJ my time or my dime, I avoid the State with the exception of passing through, not doing a thing with enough time there I would need to carry.
