Nassau County Exec Rejects NY School Mask Mandate — Then Gov. Hochul Rejects Him
Newly elected Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman signed three new executive orders aimed at defying the state’s rules regarding COVID protections, with the first order letting schools — not the state — decide whether students need to mask up in class or not

So, per usual the state is throwing around their stolen tax money to control / bend local government to their will.
My question is: what if parents all took their kids out of district, and made a private school that believed socialization of children was core to their education? If social education is core, and lockdowns and lack of socialization is clearly opposite that educational standard, would parents not be able to argue that lockdowns and other mandates violate their right to educate their children(Meyer v. State of Nebraska, 262 U.S. 390)? It may not hold up, but without money to "hold over" the local government, the state has no option other than a legal fight to force the hand of local government.
To be clear, I think masks are a good health option -- but keeping kids out of a social environment and a true classroom is destroying their education. It could easily be argued the state is being overly cautious and overly damaging to children with their current lockdown policies.
Also, on a side note, I love how her perspective is "state law prevails." Funny how NY suddenly cares about what prevails when it suits them. The constitution prevails as well. Let's remember that NYSAFE is a violation of our rights, and is trumped by the constitution. It may be enforced by NY state, and we are forced to comply, but it will never be more than a law carried out by a cartel so long as it violates the most liberal interpretation of 2A.
