me and the FFL girl here been searching all night .. haven't seen any photos with the same engraved stock , look's like a dragon or could be a dog laying down on it ..
another point is anything we see the engraving for the brand .. this gun has no W in front of a the RICHARD ..
the only thing this old gun needs is new firing pins and springs .. .. i have some old paper 12 ga hulls so could make some light loads for the old gun ..
found this .. and if its a W.Richard gun .. from the serial num .. its from the mid 1800 .. no idea why the W is missing from the company name engraving on this one .. the puzzling part ..
guns serial num is 10742 ..
from this link if you scroll down to gun serial nums .. series 2 .. that's where this gun falls into ..
i would like to get this old gun to shoot again for my FFL friend ..
but if this thing is from the mid 1800's ... black powder loads or was it shooting smokeless ?? im leaning on BP loaded shells some vids i have watched on hammer guns .. smokeless was in the 1900's from what gather .. i don't want to blow it up ..
It is a little beyond my era of interest but I have seen many like it and most were from Belgium. I doubt it is English, look for proof marks on the barrels, they should tell a lot.
