So tonight, I went to purchase a couple of 15 round magazines for my Shield Plus Performance Center 9mm EDC. I had shopped around and with my military discount, Cabela’s had the best price, and they are about 1 mile from home. So off I went.
And they had them in stock.
When I went to check out, the clerk demanded to see my driver’s license! I said “these aren‘t legally restricted here in South Carolina,- WTF?”. He responded that it was Cabela’s nationwide policy to not sell ANY magazines over 10 rounds without verifying that the purchaser is NOT from a state that restricts magazines over 10 rounds,- such as New Yorkistan. Of course, this gun will never go with me when I visit NY as it isn’t on my NY CCW.
What a pile of shit! (And speaking of piles of shit…) Jumbo James rides again! Ugh! I feel like writing to the President of Cabela’s for all of the good it will do.
In the end, I bought them there since I had gotten the Shield there at a great price,- $300 instead of the normal $599. A side note,- I had bought it on Clearance, and found out why when I got it home that the trigger had a minor problem that I could fix, but as Smith has a lifetime warranty on it, I had them repair it. And what a GREAT experience that was! Called them up toll free; explained the issue; they sent me free 2 day FEDEX shipping label. They repaired it and returned in about 2 weeks, again by FEDEX 2 day, w/ adult signature required. Kudo’s to S&W for that! Yet another reason why I buy US stuff whenever possible.
