Nike Missile bases Growing Up

As a kid growing up in Southern Missouri, we eventually figured out where the Nike Missle silos were, and they were everywhere.
Today, they have been decommissioned.
So where are our ICBM's and please don't tell me they are sitting in a bunker somewhere being stored.
They are also targets for the Ruskies.
I live southeast of Buffalo. There is no reason I can think of that Ivan would waste a NUke on Buffalo. NY City? Sure.
Where would the Ruskies send a missile in Western NY?
St Louis has Scott AFB so I am sure that is a target.
Niagara Falls AFB? Is it worth a nuke?
Their game plan used to be, nukes at ground level in the country west of major cities. Let the wind do the work.
Minimizing destruction, maximizing fallout. Leaving infrastructure in place.

IIRC Hamburg had one not too far from the I-90 . . . maybe?

And back in the day the 107th Fighter wing was in Niagara Falls. . started with F4s and transitioned to F16s later. Plus refueling tankers. MOA Misty ran across Lake Ontario for years, maybe still does. Heard A "Fox1" called on one of my scanners and made me sit up straight. . . pucker factor!

My neighbor, growing up, was a tech sgt in Germany just prior to Nam at a Nike site. His favorite story was of the last time his unit got invited to the air show that the USAF would put on each year.

Their display consisted of a missile, and a hand painted sign that said,

"This missile can shoot down every aircraft here.
One at a time, or all at once."

!!!!! Titans!?!?! Wow! They are bigger and ICBMs. When I lived in Tucson there was (is) a Titan museum there . . . and there is the old Launch Complex 19 here at Cape Canaveral Air Station. I didn't know that about the Hamburg site.

I thought hamburg was only Nike but not 100% on that


Most Nike sites were near the northern us border to shoot out missiles up over northern Canada as quickly as possible. It's essentially a nuclear tipped SAM.
