Would anyone know which NJ Trooper barracks is nearest to Brooklyn? Their website isn't very helpful and I do not want to pay twice if I put the incorrect ORI on the permit.

I don't think I can go to the Newark one, I didn't think it was possible to be worse than NYPD's process but here we are. NJ and CT CCW process makes NYC's look like a joke. The NJ state website is pretty bad, and lacking information but I'm pretty sure I saw something about not being able to go to barracks off a toll.
I think I may need to go to the Woodbridge barracks. I guess, I can also call them on Monday and see what they have to say, last time they were very dick-ish and referred me to the website, but I explained that it wasn't clear, hence my call.

According to the website each barracks has an ORI number that must be recorded on the application.
It was tedious, but I entered in every single barracks on the Firearms Unit list from Troop B and C on Google Maps to see the nearest in terms of mileage and finally found it.

I completed my application for a NJ FID card which is a requirement before I can even apply for the non-resident CCW.
$50 for NJ FID card
$98 for finger prints (can be done locally at an IdentGO)
NJ is ridiculous with all the fees. This is not even counting the $200 it will cost for the actual application.
Someone needs to sue all these states that try to price people out of getting their CCWs.

The best way to sue over the fees is to pay them all and then sue to get reimbursed because they are an illegal poll tax analog.
The cost of the suit would be many times the cost of the fees, which is why nobody does it and they can get away with it.
But, the right plaintiff and some backing from an RKBA organization should be able to prevail that way (eventually).
Once someone wins and sets that precedent, they would have to drop the fees for everyone.
I really wish at times I was filthy rich so I could tie up states and local municipalalities with litigation over stuff like this.

@RooftopKorean I hope you keep us posted on your application process and the 'success' you have. Do you know anyone with a NJ Non Res CCW Permit? I'd be saving my money, or maybe go to a casino and put it all on the blackjack table. I'd bet the odds are better for you to draw five blackjacks in a row than have that application approved.
So far, I haven't gotten any push back or any indications that it would be a daunting process.
This was one of my interactions with them via email and they have been very helpful this far.
NJ's process while more costly, at least they reply to their emails unlike the NYPD licensing division.

Very clever wording on the part of the NJSP. "No, you do not need to provide cause to be able to APPLY for the permit.....". That is an elusive way to say down the road, when you're denied, that they will accept your application and all the fees, but you didn't have a 'strong enough' application to be approved.
I DO HONESTLY hope you are approved and receive your Non Res Permit. I do. However, living in the northeast, specifically NY, I've become jaded in my belief that our state governments are willing to buck the trend of anti 2A legislation.
Remember Ronald Reagan's poignant quote about the most terrifying nine words.......

I’m interested in how the process goes for you for NJ. I thought of applying back when it cost $50 and before their version of the CCIA was signed into law post Bruen. I guess I missed my opportunity the democraps don’t waste time to defy SCOTUS. I did apply for NYC’s special carry though, so we are on the same page about wasting money to exercise our rights.
Well, after doing my FID card and starting to work on the actual application, I ran into a snafu.
Reading the application they will no longer accept the NYS CCIA course and require a separate NJ qualification.
The qualification is ridiculous. I don't think it's out of my means skill wise, but I've personally never felt the need to practice at 25 yards. I just felt that it would be irresponsible to engage at that distance if I was ever in a situation.
The biggest issue for me is being able to find a location to practice where I can draw from a holster in both standing and kneeling positions with obstacles or barriers to use as "cover" as required by this stupid qualification.
