I did a winter survival course near Mt. Marcy when I was a teenager, 1974? .
I was partnered up with a guy from Long Island. It got to be 15 below with 2 feet of fresh snow. We got through 2 nights by doing something like the video. I think we would have done better with some changes in clothing. No, No sleeping bags or tents.
The rangers ended the course a day early when a significant number of participants got frostbite of hands, feet, ears, and nose.
