Opening the windows is a safety violation. At least that's what I was told when I asked about it one day when it was hot in my kids classroom.

90% of what they do now involves electronics so turning them off will just push their lessons back.

Just suck it up and deal with it like we did growing up.

What kind of lights are they using that would generate ANY kind of heat anymore? I thought all incandescent were supposed to be replaced by now.
Florescent and LED don't generate much, if any, noticeable heat.

I remember in High School we didn't have A/C and we opened the windows. Those were such happier times (not really...still sucked)

I look back at when I was in school... no computers. Just pens, pencils, paper, and books. Oh and overhead projectors. We lost power and still had class, teacher just had plan B. Life was simple.

Got too hot in the classroom, open the windows, turn on a fan, and just deal with it. Come to school wearing shorts and a t-shirt, if not, then oh well, on you for wearing long pants and a long sleeve shirt.

What are these kids going to do when they need to work in 90F weather at their job? Tell the boss, sorry, I can't work, because in school we didn't go if it was over 88F?

I once got told this... "If we did a snow day, those students would drive to the mall instead of driving to school, so what's the difference?"

What makes you think any of these kids are going to work after they “graduate?”

When I went to school, we had built in air conditioners called "windows". We had the same technology built into our cars.

Because when it is cold you can't put more clothing on.
Half have hoodies and hats on now.
88deg. still a little warm for teaching in summer but ok in winter.
This is the crap you get when you hire incompetent people and put them in "power".

All School Children are not going to school anymore

they say there body temperature is greater then 88F

98.6F is what 99.9 percent of the children are reporting ..

And they wonder how today's kids became lazy and lack a work solid ethic. Cuddling them is a form of child abuse and is ruining them. First grade school and then in college. :fukh:

Depending on the type of fixture, mounting etc 90-120*F. Multiply that by the square footage of the fixture and the number of lights and its not an insignificant amount. The bigger problem is the 400BTU per person emitted times 20+ people

I do not see most schools putting in AC for each classroom. They will play the game of averages for the 3 days a year the temperature will be above 88. If a hot day is foretasted they will have the students each lunch early (so it qualifies as a school day) and send them home before the 88 cutoff.

Your solutions make too much sense so therefore they will not do them and they will rip off the entire roof of the schools to install ac and say well NYS made me but they gave us 25% of the cost to do it so we’re all good.
Right now we have a tax neutral proposal for our schools but the bid was done when and the work won’t start until 2026 and will not be completed until 2028. We all know bids are only good for 30 days then the overages won’t be tax neutral and will be an increase.

Never really thought of it that way, but it sure makes sense!
Lock one of the parents in the classrooms with their children. Let them see what is REALLY going on!
