Anyone else getting these unsolicited emails from NYS? Where did they get my email address, DMV or something? I had one the other day about a new "removing government red tape" portal. Turns out it was just to speed up welfare payments and shit. What a crappy state.

What You Should Know About
the New York State Budget Proposal
There’s something for everyone!
I Love NY State Capitol
Governor Hochul’s Executive Budget invests in what New Yorkers need while at the same time protecting New York from the volatility coming from the federal government. Thanks to her pro-growth agenda that has kept New York competitive, revenues have continued to exceed projections. New York State is receiving $17 billion in revenue over the next two years that far exceeds earlier expectations. This comes from high income earners, record Wall Street bonuses, and an economy that is booming again.
That means the Governor’s proposed budget can include something for everyone: addressing costs, housing, jobs, environment, safety, transportation and childcare.
This budget successfully balances
two simultaneous realities:
We have real momentum here in New York and we have volatility on the road ahead. Some of the big-ticket initiatives include something most of us can relate to when it comes to affordability. Putting more money in your pockets.
Bill Statement
We’re focusing on lowering costs by bringing down New Yorkers’ bills, from energy costs to cracking down on fraud and costly litigation that drives up auto insurance premiums.
We want to provide universal childcare by providing affordable, first rate, full day care for every single family across the state regardless of income. As a working parent of two children, I can certainly relate to the cost of caring for our children.

Police
We want to keep our streets and communities safer — we’re doubling down on proven crime-fighting strategies, continuing to get illegal guns off our streets, and taking on emerging threats like untraceable 3D-printed firearms.
We all want to protect our children which is why Governor Hochul is pushing for advancing nation-leading social media legislation – which would block direct messages from would-be predators, disable A.I. chatbots that target minors, and strengthen youth mental health care.

Statue of Liberty
And we believe in defending fundamental rights. New Yorkers should be protected from government overreach, due process should be safeguarded, and we need to ensure that no one is targeted or mistreated simply for who they are or where they come from.
Finally, we need to be faster when it comes to building in our state. And when it comes to economic development, approvals are a crucial component to advancement. Did you know that it takes New York State 56% longer for environmental approvals compared to our surrounding states? That just can’t happen.
We are New York!
Man using hammer
The Governor’s “Let Them Build” initiative is about making government work better on behalf of New Yorkers. It’s about cutting through all that red tape that will speed up housing construction, affordable energy, and critical infrastructure projects statewide.
New York is a big state with big dreams, and we need to be here for everyone, addressing the problems that impact us all. That’s what this budget is about. Meeting this moment, preparing for what’s ahead, and making sure New York continues to work for the people who live here.
When we invest wisely and move forward together, we all benefit.
Because Opportunity Starts Here!
