NYC Man charged with cocaine, and weapons possession

On Sunday, January 14th, 2018, New York State Troopers based on the Thruway conducted a traffic stop resulting in the arrest of Simon Goris, age 49, of New York City for several drug-related and weapons charges. Investigators say that Troopers made the traffic stop along the northbound lanes of the New York State Thruway in the Village of Ravena in the early morning hours on Sunday, when they say Goris was in violation of several vehicle and traffic laws including a suspended registration. During the roadside investigation, the Troopers discovered that Goris was transporting a large amount of drugs, including almost a kilo of cocaine, 104 grams of crack, marihuana, drug paraphernalia, and a loaded handgun. Troopers charged Goris with felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st degree, 3 counts of felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (misdemeanor), Criminal Use of Drug Paraphenalia (misdemeanor), felony Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree, and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a violation. He was arraigned in the Village of Ravena Court before the Honorable Charles Brooks and remanded to the Albany County Jail without bail.
