Real world scenario: My other half was a cop for 13 years. Got in a fight one night, was seriously injured, and is now permanently disabled. Forced to medically retire at 33 and go on Social Security. She was assigned a rep-payee because she never learned how to balance a checkbook. (Yay catholic school!) Currently, she can not pass a NICS check because of this bullshit rule.

How is that "common sense"?

I mentioned to my in-laws what about the solider who is seriously injuries and has to spend months in the hospital. Someone has to handle his affairs while he is recovering. But when he gets out, he is on that list. Or if they are in a bad car accident and are recovering, if they have someone look after their affairs while in the hospital, they are on that list. That got them to quiet down on that subject.
