Old Scope Suggestions

Picked up an eddystone 1917 receiver today. The rear sight protectors were ground off and the whole thing very tastefully blued. I hate sporters but this has been in my LGS for years and I figured I'd have some fun with it.

Any suggestions on a scope for this? I want to mount a scope of the vintage some vet would've put on it in the 40s or 50s but don't know much about what was considered a good scope back in the day.

Thats perfect! I was looking at ebay and it wasnt going so well. These are pretty reasonable.

I plan on taking it hunting and where I go the max distance is 300 yards but realistically it will be 200 yards and in.

Redfield was one of the premier scopes back in the late '60s through mid '70s. I have a Redfield fixed 12 power mounted on an old Eddystone Enfield that was sporterized. Now chambered in .25-06, the rifle wears a Bishop stock, a Federal barrel, and has had the trigger tuned up to an almost reasonable hunting weight. It has taken Pronghorn, Mulies, Whitetail, Hogs, Caribou, Woodchucks, and been swimming in a COLD Canadian lake while hunting moose. For the past 20 years it's been a safe queen on the count of it weighing a damn ton. All the big game hunting in crappy weather locations is now the job of a nice light Sako in 7mm Rem Mag. Stainless, synthetic, weather doesn't bother it. MUCH easier for an old geezer to carry, too. There's something to be said about the pretty wood & blued guns, but technology trumps looks eventually.
