Used to be that the drug overdoses would thin out the ranks, but now that there is a Narcan dose or twenty with every emergency responder, it's no problem to bring 'em back to life to do it again next week and keep spending the dole.

The politicians are getting off too easy. 12K per year per person to solve the homeless problem on the streets is cheap. “Here’s 12K per year. Now go find yourself a different place to sleep that’s not in sight.

It’s certainly cheaper than building and maintaining a homeless shelter.

If they didn’t go woke and allow drug use they wouldn’t have this large of an issue. Must be nice to create the issue then use some one else’s money to “fix” it.

Agreed, it doesn't resolve any of the underlying issues of why they are homeless in the first place. They will just spend it on drugs and alcohol. Politicians are just further enabling their substance abuse issues and passing the buck down the line without addressing the real issues here with the homeless. Mental health and substance abuse must be addressed first. But the politicians know it's an endless money pit that takes an incredibly long time to rehabilitate individuals and they would rather pass the buck and get the quick win with making them disappear than address it immediately for the long run using taxpayer money.
