Right now, a local judge/police can take guns away from those that are committed to a physch center for evaluation. When released, most States do not have a quick process to return the guns. I know people that lost their guns and are still fighting with the courts to get them back; years later.

First why is it police to determine if you should be given back your firearms? Second if you are not incarcerated you should have them back. Third was safe guards are being put in place so this isn't abused.

If they're going to do this they need something in writing that says you will be compensated for every day past 72 hours if you don't have your guns back.

I'm right there with you. I voted for Trump three times, and while his talking of defending our Second Amendment is a very big issue for me, so were helping the hit to my wallet at the grocery store and gas pump, getting the re-securing the orders, sending the illegal criminals packing, and letting the world know the USA it still strong and a force to be reckoned with. Clearing and cleaning up the Government is a good thing, but you'd have to get rid of all of them and completely start over to make a real difference. Vance was supposed to be on our side too, and he's been very quiet on the 2A issues.
They all need to start paying attention to the Oath they take, to uphold and protect The Constitution. I don't give a shit about paper or plastic straws and this was in no way worthy of a freaking executive order, who cares about keeping TikTok (a Chinese spy media group) unbanned here, another absolutely stupid EO. MAGA is slipping this time around.
In no way will I now, nor have I ever knowingly supported anyone one who feels it's OK to obstruct the Constitution and especially my RIGHT to bear arms to protect myself and family, and to hunt. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

I think 2A and our related issues are unlike Canada becoming the 51st state or taking over Greenland. Trump's biggest advocates are still his Eric and Don Jr. As long as they have his ear (no pun intended) there won't be any sweeping negative changes to our firearm causes. Like all of his cabinet, Trump has a leash on Bondi too.

My thought is yes they could be returned quickly and easily but most times they won’t be.
I can say this is happening in my area for less. This is happening for any domestic related call regardless or criminal activity or arrest. I know cops that talked/bragged about how this was happening. I got in a bit of an argument with them on how this is illegal but they were told to do this and it started with a Niagara county judge and carried into wire county.
While there might be a sliver of good this will be used for bad by most and very few places will give you your weapons back after a few days. They will err on the side of caution and make you go to court for it.
