Well played by the clerk. He didn't try to draw on a deployed firearm. That would have gotten him killed. When he had the chance, the clerk had the presence of mind to get out of the criminal's view before drawing and thus seized the element of surprise. Kudos to you, Mr. Clerk.

He definitely short shucked it the first time he tried to chamber a round, he's lucky as hell to have made it through. Looks like the clerk may have taken some damage himself though, he came back through the door with a bloody hand. Glad to see the good guys come out on top.
