.223 Rem
For sale is a used Pietta-made reproduction of a Remington New Model Army (1858) revolver. This is a percussion cap, black powder revolver with a spare black powder cylinder and a Taylor's conversion cylinder in .45 Colt (aka Long Colt/.45LC) which allows it to shoot cowboy-level .45 Colt loads (under 850 fps). It has very few black powder loads through it (2 cylinders) and has mostly been fired with .45 Colt. I took good care of it since it was one of my first handguns and has about 700 rounds through it. Front sight came off once under recoil and was soldered back on and reblued by a gunsmith. I removed one firing pin from the conversion cylinder so I could keep that one cylinder dead and easily identified, in line with the practice of only loading 5 rounds in a single-action sixgun.
Accurate shooter and fun gun, but I'd like to consolidate calibers a bit. Additional items are listed below (not all pictured).
Ammo: ($110)
- 35 rds Remington Performance Wheelgun 250 grain Lead Round Nose
- 70 rds Armscor 255 grain Lead Semi-Wadcutter
Black Powder Ammo: ($75)
- 77 Traditions .454 lead balls
- 400 unopened CCI #11 magnum percussion caps
- 1 lb of Hodgdon Triple Seven
Reloading: ($90)
- Lee 4 carbide die set, .45 Colt
- a bunch of .45 Colt brass
- a few hundred Missouri Bullet Co. 200 grain coated Hard Cast Round Nose
Accessories: ($30)
- U.S. stamped leather cavalry flap holster
- A-Zoom .45 Colt Snap Caps
The whole deal goes for $880. Going for $575 if you just want the revolver, including the spare black powder cylinder and conversion cylinder. If you don't want any particular category of extras, subtract the price next to that category from the total. Not willing to parcel it out beyond those general categories. Buyer pays transfer fees.
Local to Westchester, but willing to meet at a mutually convenient FFL. PM with questions or for further details.
