Exactly. He probably registered as a Republican so he could vote against Trump in the primary.

Catastrophic Security Failure it is... Period! The fact the shooter got shots off says it all. Only LUCK and a bad shooter allowed Trump to walk away. Even post shooting, the security team was abysmal, ridiculously so!

Yeah, Trump would be best to go Submarine right now, stay under water and keep his cool, keep his intentions unknown. But upon being sworn in again, clean house from top to bottom! Without prejudice!

Here is something to contemplate. By reports, the shooter was not carrying ID and was identified by DNA. He had no criminal history so its unlikely his DNA was "in the system" Where did they get the sample from to compare? They ran DNA and matched him conclusively in a matter of hours? Infant DNA screening is suppose to be blind and not in a traceable database, where else could it have come from unless he had done genealogy?

There are several large voluntary DNA databases like ancestry out there.
