Privatized Socialism
Ok, this will be long winded. So if you need a short something to rant on, this may not be it, keep scrolling. This is a read a couple times, chew between each read.
What if I told you we’ve been living within a Privatized Socialist system for some time? For the purposes of discussion (not debate) think about your health insurance and cell phone service. Each of these we pay premium for “Because you NEED it” or in auto insurance case many states require it. The majority of us DON’T FULLY USE the system but pay the premiums anyway. We (the non-habitual over users) pay for the others who DO use it on the heavy side. Cellphone is a great example and is one that gets little discussion. Most of us don’t come close to being “Heavy users”. Yet our fees for the “Really good plan” makes up for those who do. Health insurance has been sold to us as “you need it in case you get really sick”. Yet if we didn’t have insurance, would the hospital not provide lifesaving methods and would the cost not be picked up? This culture has allowed industries to add fees and raise rates quietly and slowly until the $75 bandaid and $5,000 helicopter ride have become the norm; price of doing business besides my insurance covers 30% so I’m getting a deal. The many, who use less, provide for the others using more. I was listening to a discussion about a new Menopause med which costs $675 a month…BUT with your insurance will cost YOU only $25-75 depending on your plan….. Think on that for a minute. How does that work? Also, if you USE your insurance, you have to fight for the payments AND at the end when a portion is paid WITH co-pay, they can no longer cover you.
Sit down sometime and figure out what you pay a month for any of these services. Then figure in if you took that monthly/ yearly amount and had it in an emergency fund and could pay cash IF it was needed. Then also take in consideration even if you were 85 years old and had something really bad, what would happen. I’ll tell you from experience; all you have becomes part of the State anyway.
Life Insurance is another great example. Let’s say you are an 85 YO woman, raised three sons, had a fourth child who doubled as a husband. Lived a good life, raised the kids well, had a Life Insurance policy for 50 years. At 85 you get a letter letting you know your policy has aged out; Thank You. Do you get that money back? Nope, just a Thank you. That money (like auto insurance and others) has been spent. The same applies for car plans. If that money was in a savings account, it would be your money. Still there if the transmission goes out, but if the car is maintained and you treat it right, that money is there for other “Just in Case” stuff….AND under your control.
We have become accustomed to this culture. We pay because we have been sold a bill of goods of “You need this…” so we can also pay for others.
