I have an Orange county pistol permit and so does my son. I want to share a gun with him, and not sure of proper procedure. I have a copy of PPS-09 to fill out and get notarized. Does he then just fill out an amendment form? On the amendment form I don't see a box for co-ownership. Does he just check acquired ? Thanks

When you purchase just have both names on receipt. Thats what I do for me and the wife to have on both permits.

You need to get the correct process from your county clerk.
It is different in every county. I think some counties don't even allow co-registration.
I can give you the Monroe County process but it's useless to you. Be wary of advice you receive here.

In Dutchess, the rule I was told from DCSO was that, to paraphrase to the best of recollection:

- The firearm will be added to both permits, and marked co-registered in their system.

I wrote a letter to the Judge explaining what we wanted to do. Sent appropriate amount of money. $5/gun.
You write letter giving permission to have gun added to son's permit. Son attaches letter to amendment form with fee to add to his permit. I believe he also writes co-owned in the aquired from section with you on amendment form. I'm in orange county and have done it that way to add my guns to my wife's permit.
BTW we're in same household not sure if they have different requirements if your son is living somewhere else you should check with pistol permit office.
