Recertification Notification Question

33) After January 31, 2018 the law states that the failure to recertify is an automatic revocation. Likely it will fall to the licensing officer to actually revoke the permit.

An interesting question ....
I will use my deceased father as an example . My father owned two handguns that are now on my permit . He never updated it (the address ) from his family home (as required by law ). He got his permit in the late 30's . . In the 50's he plowed it under (the wallet with the permit ) and never tried to replace it. While growing up I think I laid eyes on the handguns less than a half dozen times . He bought one to trap with ... better than carrying a long gun . . To him it was a tool .. When he put away the traps he put away the S&W handgun . I doubt it had over a hundred rounds fired through it in 40 years. .... If he was alive today ... There would be no forwarding address to him .
But as mentioned above If a family member did not alert him to recertify.... The government would be knocking on his door to collect his guns .....In the end ... How many tens of thousands of permit owners will have their permits revoked ? Just like this example above. Folks going about their everyday lives trying to make a living ....not paying attention to this new requirement. .... A lot of elderly folks say 80+ use the computer for only social use , Read the paper on occasion . Don't watch the news everyday. ... But have a handgun for protection soon will hear a knock on that door ... 3-4 armed State troopers showing up and saying you broke the law hand over your guns .

I think this is exactly the intent, it provides a "legal" means of confiscating guns from the elderly, INCLUDING their long guns. they're gonna die soon anyway, so what difference does it make?

This will catch more than the elderly .... My sister hardly ever reads the paper or watch the news . It will snare a lot of folks that have a permit and only a passing interest in guns. ... For not being aware of a process ... Treated like a felon
