The FBI conducted a record number of National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) checks on November 24, Black Friday 2023.

Funny thing is it is only about dealer purchases, in free states you can still buy a gun from your neighbor down the street without govt permission. Now add all the states which don’t use NICS and you get a better picture of things.
Oregon has their State Police do the background checks, in NC if you have a valid NC CC permit no NICS needed.
I am sure there are others but the FBI isn’t the only source background checks are done so they don’t know all the numbers.
Then there are the 80% guns being made in people’s garages. They have lost control of the narrative and that is what keeps them up at night.
I Hope it gives them nightmaresThen there are the 80% guns being made in people’s garages. They have lost control of the narrative and that is what keeps them up at night.
I didn’t even dream of trying to go and bother buying a gun Black Friday for this very reason. I guess it’s working. Not in NY it wasn't. I bet anyone who went out on black friday to buy guns and ammo didn't leave the store with them. They Gestapo doesn't care about high demand days. They just throw the check into delay and you wait till they get the time to process it. If you are buying yourself a gun for Christmas, do it sooner than later, otherwise you may not see it till next year.
How many delays in NY?
Hard to draw real conclusions from NICS numbers I think. The NICS count I feel would represent the max number of new guns added to circulation. But it can't decipher new gun owners vs existing. And also could represent transfers, such as if I sold a gun to another NY resident. Thatll add to the checks count, but not another gun in circulation or necessarily a new gun owner. I much prefer the ambiguity. The less the .gov knows about the who, what, where, and how many the better.Funny thing is it is only about dealer purchases, in free states you can still buy a gun from your neighbor down the street without govt permission. I wonder if a FOIA could be executed on them to disclose the stats on delays, denies, and proceeds .How many delays in NY?

Something to consider: "Dealers Records" (and we don't know if it's Sales Records and/or Bound Book) are to be submitted twice yearly to the NYSP.New Guns and existing guns, does not seem to be ID data for that on the 4473.
.............only a home made gun is listed as a new category.
