I was helping my uncle clean out a closet yesterday and we came across a small box filled with .22lr ammo.
It's been there a long time.

$ .84 cents from an E.J Korvettes store that he worked part time at in the early 70's.

I couldn't afford $5 back then. I used to ride my bike about a mile to Harvys Hardware and could get a box for .59 cents, or I could ride another mile or so to the Western Auto and get them for IIRC .49'
That was back when you could buy a glass Bottle of Coke for .10 cents at the gas station and ride over to the store and .02 cents back for deposit.

Not my box, but I remember boxes of 22 shorts for 35 cents and I could get them at my uncle's store for less.

We didn't have inflation until Nixon took us off the gold standard so that the fed could print money with reckless abandon.

Prior to that, we had stable money (except for that unfortunate incident with Roosevelt).


Inflation is a tax on the poor and middle class. It's a sneaky tax, so people don't realize how badly they're getting robbed.

I remember shopping at Korvetts during going out of business sale in the early 80's. Everything half price.

When I first got into guns I thought 100 rounds of federal brass cases 115 gr FMJ was pricey at 14.99.
