They haven't left the Ilion area.I'm sad to see this.. I know them leaving the Ilion area was an economic slap to the area. I blame Cuomo for most of it, and his unSAFE Act.
If the Marlin plant was still in CT and equipped id agree but i do believe the plant is no more.
The lever guns are built in NY.AFAIK you are correct.
Packed up the tooling, etc. and moved to Kentucky. The employees who knew how to use them, not so much. Not a knock on Remmy craftsmen, just not the line/designs they knew. Marlin owner's forum had all kinds of threads on quality issues on the post-move centerfires. I can't comment as I refused to buy one (I am still looking for a JM in .35 Rem or .30.30). I will say my Remarlin-built XT-22 is hunting but not match accurate after a tiny bit of work on my part- but it's a rimfire.
Sorry for the hijack, ya'll.
Best way to decide is to find one and give it a good looking over. They aren't terrible.I had a rem 700 5R which supposedly come from the custom shop, well made gun, if the the new lever have the same level of detail i maybe inclined to buy one.
