Snipers are not deadly because of the weapon they use. They are deadly because they learned to weaponize math.

So they chambered they rifle in the .408 Cheytec and call it a development advance? The Cheytec rifle has been out for around 10 years. About time someone adopted it.

There is a lot of debate whether a single shot is more effective than a repeater in many real live engagement situations.
Just because repeaters have become so accurate too and we have modern bullets for service rounds that can make the 2 miles trip.

Based on my extensive combat experience in various digital theaters I would opt for the semi in most cases.

My issue with the dailmail article is that I knew they were referencing bolt action vs an automatic action but misrepresented it as if some sniper rifles literally fire multiple rounds at once.

snipers demoralize the enemy by killing someone from a far away distance from an unseen location.

they are vulnerable to indirect attacks if they are too far out though. During Panama the 7th ID Aviation Brigade took out a sniper harassing our troops with a TOW missile fired from a Cobra helicopter into the building he was using as a hide. The entire building came down on him. No more sniper.
