Stumbled upon this thread over at pistol-forum.com -
Basically they moved production to Mexico and quality has gone down. A bunch of their employees from California have made a new holster company - US Duty Gear - that appear to be committed to maintaining the previous Safariland quality and even expanding to other pistols that Safariland stayed away from.
I'm not LEO or .Mil but I love the ALS (Auto Locking System) of the Safariland systems for range and/or training - I try to pick up one up for each of my main guns. I bought a 6390RDS for my new M&P 2.0 Compact Optics Ready w/ 509T - and it says "Assembled in Mexico". (I mean the optic is Made inChyna China so who am I to judge...) Briefly looking over it I don't notice any quality issues but just thought it was worth pointing out to people.
This weekend US Duty Gear is 20% off but they don't have a listing for my 4" M&P, and it also looks like they only have a SLS (Self Locking System, AKA 'hood') instead of the auto-lock.
Changes at Safariland
(I asked an off topic question of KevH in another thread, and thought the result was worth it's own thread.) What changed at Safariland?
