SAGA Act-Protecting Sporter Rifles, Let's Get On it

Most of us have been carping since 2005 about this issue, finally we have a bill introduced that would protect the right to own sporter rifles and over rule the gun bigot state and municipalities who have raped the Constitution. Yes there have been posts about this but the time is NOW to get serious.

We need to contact Speaker Ryan and get this on must pass legislation, we may have to get creative, but if EVERY lawful gun owner in blue state hell-holes do not make their voices heard to the GOP leadership, then we lose and deserve to. All this talk about anger, civil war, is useless, we NEED to get on this, in whatever legal capacity you can.

To give an example, many years ago a campaign was begun to send a Congressman bricks, people did, it became a major PIA b/c his office was filled with the boxes, it got his attention.

Now it is time for us to actually do something than just spout hot air-(that includes me).

So let's get creative and put our best foot forward, this may be our ONLY chance, maybe we should send Ryan some bricks.

“(b) (1) A State or a political subdivision of a State may not impose any regulation, prohibition, or registration or licensing requirement with respect to the design, manufacture, importation, sale, transfer, possession, or marking of a rifle or shotgun that has moved in, or any such conduct that affects, interstate or foreign commerce, that is more restrictive, or impose any penalty, tax, fee, or charge with respect to such a rifle or shotgun or such conduct, in an amount greater, than is provided under Federal law. To the extent that a law of a State or political subdivision of a State, whether enacted before, on, or after the date of the enactment of this subsection, violates the preceding sentence, the law shall have no force or effect. For purposes of this subsection, the term ‘rifle or shotgun’ includes any part of a rifle or shotgun, any detachable magazine or ammunition feeding device, and any type of pistol grip or stock design."

I, not them, used "sporter" language because people's panties get in a knot when the term "assault rifle" is used, it would nullify the retarded gun laws we all claim to hate in this state.

Furthermore, I worked in the beltway I did not just fall of the potato wagon, I KNOW, that this was submitted this summer, if we do not make some noise, especially after Vegas, then it will be a tar baby for sure. We need to convince the leadership not so much individual members, leadership sets the agenda.

I am VERY critical of the bipartisan attacks against gun rights, I hate the GOP, just happen to hate the Dems more, but SAGA is a chance if we take the opportunity to at least try.

Or we can all sit around bitching and moaning talking smack lying to ourselves about we will all hold the line like Ruby Ridge when gun confiscation begins, I prefer dealing with reality.

Sorry, but I'm not into any law that needs to justify making a law to defend a "Right"... Let alone one that wants to pigeon hole the definition of what may/may boy be acceptable by classifying a particular type of firearm as OK.

Don't need any more laws!

Enforce the ones already on the books and remove all impediments to law abiding citizens exercising their "God Given" Rights!

Can't be OK protecting sexual preference or identity, and speech, and the ability to Vote, etc... But yet, somehow or another it's OK to define the 2nd!

I agree in theory but we are outnumbered and out gunned and each year as another million aliens become legal citizens, at least 2/3 registering as Democrats, this fight will eventually be lost to demographics. Australian-style gun confiscation will happen in a generation at this rate, the second the GOP dumps Trump and his fair-trade economic populist agenda, we will NEVER win the Whitehouse again, NEVER.

Years ago I once spent a summer working for a major gun importer, they get it, they knew that we have essentially ZERO friends in Washington DC when it comes to gun rights. This was in the late 1990s, my boss correctly predicted the next president would be a Republican and just as bad as Clinton, he was right, W was a jackoff.

My only point is our freedoms will continue to be eroded, Democrats sweeping gubenatorial wins in blue states was no surprise last week, what was alarming is the slaughter of the GOP in the VA countryside and suburbs for their state legislature enough to engender a great post from Pat Buchanan sounding the alarm. The backbone of the GOP is the white voter, we are not growing, in fact we are in de-population, while Democrat minorities proliferate.

The next step will be a GOP trying to look more like the Dems again like we had with Romney, the Bushes, Rockafellers, McCain, etc...

I like to point out that the original SCOTUS 2A ruling (Miller) was that *only* "military style" weapons were protected.

According to Miller that select fire M-16 would be protected, and that muzzle loader or bird gun isn't.

I may not agree with that, but I think we could live with it, If they are stopped from banning "military style" weapons, then everything else falls apart for them. They would have a real hard time arguing that they need to ban that flintlock and the guy should use a full auto instead.
