Iv always had a Garand on my short list of guns to own but dont know a ton about them. What should I be looking for? Whats everyones best resource for info. Any experience/advice on the issue helps.
They only made 6 million of them so after 60 years of sales the numbers are dwindling. The CMP has enough to operate on for about two years at present sales and supplies. Assuming we don't get the ones back from Korea or any other lend lease programs you need to get one while the getting is good or you will pay gun show prices for them.CMP doesn't seem to have much in stock

Orest hinted in 2012 they had less than 10 years left at the current sales rate and supply situation. That was when BO said no to the Korea Garand returns. My guess based upon Orest's comments is they have a couple years left at current supply and sales rate, barring any foreign lend lease returns. Korea has about 86K which would keep the CMP going for a few more years when/if we get them back.I don't know. People have been saying CMP is running out of Garands for 15 years. Somehow their Garand stock is always replenished. It's always a good idea to get on their mailing list. They send notices about new arrivals.
Eligibility RequirementsForgive my ignorance but what's involved in getting one from CMP? Just order and wait?
No but, there are some quite collectible serial numbers and brands. For instance there was a time that serial numbers were duplicated buy different companies. If you can find one of those and its match you would have something quite valuable. Sometimes two rifles with the same serial numbers ended up in the same arms room. To differentiate them the Armors normally stamped an "A" behind the last digit of the serial number. Are there any serial numbers or manufacturers to stay away from. Or problems I should be watching out for?
