Wash rinse repeatthat sucks, the media only perpetuates copycats repeating these things because of the publicity that they get.
Folks, I am truly heartbroken by the events of this morning. This hit very close to home for us. I know the Mom of 1 of the shooting victims, fortunately he will survive. He was serious injured from a gunshot to his shoulder, he was flown to Vanderbilt Medical in Nashville, it is equivalent to ECMC when it comes to being a trauma center. According to his Mom, they weren't sure if they could save his arm, he had surgery and as of right now it looks like the best news will be that they may have saved his arm, but he will never have use of his hand. They are still not 100% sure that his arm may not still require amputation. This school is about 20 miles from us, and we have a few other connections to Folks over there. Most of the 1st responders have kids at that school, but still did the tough job of doing what they do. I just saw in a local news conference that the 1st State Trooper onsite went into the building, and saw the 1st fatality, a young girl that was dressed very similarly to the daughter he had at the school. He had the tough task of viewing her to assure himself it wasn't his daughter. ANYBODY who doesn't think these guys/gals have a tough job, just let the thought of that sink in for a minute.
It has been a rather tough day around here because in Western Kentucky all of the counties are really small, with people connections that span across county lines. This has really shaken the whole "Purchase Area" of Kentucky.
I'm just glad I live in Kentucky, where Governor Bevin came to the site immediately for the sole purpose of consoling people, and offering his help anyway needed. There was no grandstanding, no calls for more gun control, no finger pointing at gun owners, none of it. Just a Governor who realizes his fellow Kentuckians need some love.
Very sad day here for sure!
