Do Teachers Want to Go Armed at School?

Not a majority of them, but 18% of teachers apparently want to carry guns and get training. Where as about 6% of the population has CCW permits. So when you compare those two percentages teachers want to carry guns three times more than average citizens.

I bet a lot of teachers carry guns anyway. My sister who's a speech therapist and works in the public school system in Florida asked me if their was such a thing as body armor that she can conceal in a backpack. I gave her the website to ar500 armor that she can put in a backpack and keep locked in her drawer at school.

She's no gun gal but now she's starting to see the merits of them. If she's concerned, than I'm sure those teachers that are gun people have thought about it too and made their decisions on whether to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

The NEA does not represent teachers, In 2016 they were the shill group that endorsed HRC from the moment she was a candidate and actively worked to sink Bernie's campaign (I attended several union meetings.) Teachers who would and could carry and are that motivated, yes they are a minority, so where's the minority support from the DNC and the left wing?

I keep hearing this argument that teachers “shouldn’t be forced to carry guns.” The only thing we need is some provisions to allow those who are WILLING to carry guns to do so and there will be more than enough in schools. No one will want to kick that hornets nest.

It's not like they have to walk through a metal detector, or get wanded, or searched, to enter the school.

Exactly. If you don't want to carry don't, but let those that want to protect themselves and their students carry if they choose to. You'll never see it allowed in NY though as long as the liberals are in charge. Even if somehow 85% of teachers here want to carry they won't change the law to allow it.

Eh, it's a little different than the mall or movie theatre where the worst they can do is ask you to leave. One slip up at school could be career ending. That is a huge risk, and much more likely to happen than a school shooting.

There's ways to make a tiny Ruger Lcp totally invisible worn on the body. Most that slip up open their mouths to others or put it in places that others can find them.

It's a risk worth taking in my opinion.

We've got to change the message. Instead of discussion about "forcing teachers to carry", we've got to ask "Why are we disarming teachers?" who already carry when they go to the supermarket, already carry when they go to the movies and already carry when they go for a walk.

I tried having this discussion with my sister, who ALMOST was a teacher.

Her first response is "we shouldn't force teachers to carry".
When I explained that they weren't going to be forced, but only allowed to if they wanted, her response was "do you really want untrained people with guns around children?"
When I explained that your typical CCW trains regularly with their carry her response was, "what happens if a child gets hold of the gun?"
I tried to explain that a responsible CCW doesn't let that happen but she wasn't hearing any of it.
Her final words were, "i don't want to be put in danger because of some hot-head with a gun!"

They completely do NOT understand. They refuse to listen to logic, but only to their emotional response to their hoplophobia.

@Grimscale, your sister is the type of people that I work with. There is NOTHING you can say or do that will change her/Liberal minds.
I’ve gotten 3 staff members involved with firearms in my school. Unfortunately, one is a flaming liberal that wants to hunt and protect himself and his family when conservatives attack. The other two are conservatives that know they will need their firearms to protect themselves from the “accepting and tolerant left (insert sarcasm)” .
