Edit - On a side note.
Back in the late 60s and early 70s, my aunt worked at an asylum. aka funny farm.
She was in administration, but was still privy to the crazy shit that went on there.
The insane shit that she told us about was crazy. Some people are fucking nuts.

Good on Orange Man Good if he can put the nutcases back into institutions like we used to.
It's way past time America gets off loser street and pulls onto MAGA Boulevard.

I believe it was Pataki that fast tracked the funny farm closures in NYS back in the 80's. Funny thing, it was in the 80's when I was working we noticed an explosion in the homeless population in NYC, and every fuckin one of them was bat shit crazy. Everybody knew it and just turned a blind eye for the last 40 yrs. If they just order them off the streets, they will just move the problem from place to place. They need to open and use the rubber rooms again.

I don't know if this is true but supposedly the movie "one flew over the cuckoo's nest" had an impact on the decision to shut down the asylums. In the 1970's there seemed to be sense asylums did more harm than good. It may also have been a cost issue. One thing is certain - there are definitely people who don't belong on the streets and out in public. I don't see why we can't re-open or build new places to house them.

They passed a law that said if a person could be kept from losing it with meds they should be let out. Problem is once they are not under constant supervision they dont take the meds and are left to roam the streets while bughouse loco.
