Yep gun owners are our own worst enemies. The ones who talk to the press who are often touted as experts give the gun banners legitimacy.
I especially love it when they drag out a veteran, who says I used these weapons on the battlefield. Nobody needs one. I call them enemies of the state.

Cohesiveness is what we lack often. We all enjoy firearms, the reason is irrelevant. If that was our first thought, not what makes us different we would be better for it. Bringing new owners to the table should be our 1st priority, not fighting amongst existing ones.

They either get in line or they get canceled. That is the strength and weakness of monolithic thinking. You keep your herd together because they are afraid of the dark, but you get no independent thinking for problem solving.

The problem with libertarian minded people is that they are very resistant to being organized under a command structure.
Authoritarians are like sheep, clamoring for orders and desperate to be led anywhere, no matter how disastrous it is.
Libertarians are more like cats. They may enjoy social interaction, but you're going to have a hell of a time herding them.

We all need to make peace with the fact that we will never have unity in the gun community or any community. People are vastly different and have vastly different opinions.
All Ithink should happen is a background check for violent felons and dangerous mentally ill to prevent them from having guns and some valid sensitive places that have metal detectors to keep guns and ammo out that are manned by real cops and that’s it. Outside of that I can buy anything I can afford outside of heavy explosives. No NFA, no separate permits for each state freedom. Some will disagree with me saying background checks are valid, I’m too lose, or you should be able to own a nuclear weapon.
We see this in abortion and sexual freedom as well. Some want abortions up until 1-2 term, but others want abortions up until birth or just after. Help some want Dr assisted suicide.
We see this with sexuality to. I don’t care who you fuck as long as they are consenting adults I just don’t need to hear about it or have it pushed in schools. Some think I’m too liberal and some want to legalize pedophilia.
Im not sure why this is shocking to anyone or why it’s a thing since we will never get a consensus.

As gun owners we should easily recognize that what we stand for is our own individualism and rights, as that's what we collectively argue for regularly, but understand that the overarching theme should be that we stand together for a common cause, regardless of our differences.
I hope this brings clarity to my thought.
I think there is a misunderstanding here. My intent was, as briefly as possible, to explain how gun control advocates utilize our individualism as a tool against us all. Now, I believe it's well established that the best leadership encourages healthy debate to establish a way forward in any organization, it still isn't to sacrifice the entirety of the war by engaging in useless skirmishes amongst colleagues on the same side.
As gun owners we should easily recognize that what we stand for is our own individualism and rights, as that's what we collectively argue for regularly, but understand that the overarching theme should be that we stand together for a common cause, regardless of our differences.

We don't need to be monolith like the left, though. We can wholly acknowledge our differences, but agree there is a bigger fight to be fought while still wanting to address those issues long term. It's OK to have nuance, unlike with the left which crushes nuance.
The problem is nuance requires work and time to get it right. People generally don't want to put in the time. People are lazy, mostly. They live lazy lives, intellectually and physically. It's a lot to ask of most people.
This is also why the left absolutely thrives. Monoliths cater to the simple minded. Being critical is work, so the simple minded flock to the left in droves.

Diversity is fine. I really don't care why another individual owns a firearm. Other individuals should not care why I own firearms. Live and let live. The one thing though that we all should share is the law of the land, the constitution. All I care about is what is protected for me under the constitution. Not what someone thinks about me and my guns, not what someone would prefer I do or not do with my guns, etc.. All I care about are my G-d given rights that are protected by the constitution. Period. Outside of that people will generally never agree on anything in life. Too bad all guns owners don't have that in common.

Correct some do. I hear it all the time if only gun owners would vote Republican we could take back NYS. Many gun owners have a shotgun and one box of sligs for deer hunting, I mean drinking with the guys away from their wives.
On reading this it brought me to a thought. Winning the governorship of NY generally means Winning NYC. People in NYC are generally disarmed and are either ignorant or don't care as access to firearms has been no Buenos for decades. There is no drive to vote republican to protect thier second amendment rights because they already don't HAVE a second amendment in NYC. They would need other reasons to vote republican, and that still wouldn't guarantee a win for the 2A as they have been blinded to firearms for so long. Does this seems to be a plausible theory or am I out counting daisy's in left field?

I've been around the firearms community in many different capacities for over 44 years and met all kinds. The hunter, the collector, the tactical junkie, the competitor and the simple recreational shooter. The basic problem is we are way too cocky, condescending and for the most part assholes to fellow and especially new shooters. Know-it-alls that at the drop of a dime will get into a dick measuring contest or let each other know how superior we and our gear are.
We all need to change the way we come across to others when it comes to our passion for firearms. Band together.
