I am usually somewhat on edge when using outdoor ATMs, a little more so than when on one inside a bank. Still though, it would be easy for someone to walk on me or anyone when you are hitting the keys or counting the cash. Damn shame this guy was not armed.
As much as possible I got to the atm with my wife and she gets the cash and I look around while she’s doing it. Anyone walking up to us or near us I’m drawing. Maybe not pointing the gun at them, but it’s coming out of the holster. ASAP keep in mind I’m in the car so it won’t be visible until it needs to be be.
This guy completely ignored his surrounds like most do, but look around you.
there is an atm like this in syracuse, right out in the open on the main drag with no shelter or privacy around, when we are there we always have 1 person using atm and the other keeping an eye on the whole area. it is not a good setup at all
And Hills attorney will argue that his client was forced to defend himself with the gun because the older and bigger man chose to attack him while being robbed rather than just giving up.
Hes just a misunderstood Youth, and after he serves about 7 years in prison he will come out to be a model citizen that would never do something like this again. He deserves a second chance after taking another man's life.
Maybe Hills attorney will argue that his victim was using white privilege against him by having money in the bank, and when he wouldn't give it up, he was forced to shoot him to get his rightful reparations.
Just kidding! I can't imagine what kind of a defense he will come up with for his client.
I ONLY use drive thru ATMs and I pull up within inches of the machine itself leaving little to no room. Makes for a quick escape if need be. Not to mention being encased a 3500lb weapon if it comes to that.
I have Only used an AMT once and that was a drive up one at that. I always plan ahead and withdraw any extra money that I’m going to need from inside the credit union. My son in law and daughter use them all the time. I’ll have to send them this video link
There are too many punk ass criminals like this around lately. We had a guy attack a woman in a grocery store parking lot in broad daylight the other day. Luckily she wasn’t seriously injured but she was punched in the head and thrown to the ground. Another male shopper saw what was happening and tackled the would be mugger and held him until the cops showed up.
I've only use an indoor ATM. And I usually go during the day time hours ( lunch break). And I still watch my back. I never go to the ATM at night, because that's when the criminals wake up & go on the prowl.
I use them all the time. I just never use one that is "open". I use the drive up or the ones in the bank, in an entry/vestibule. The kind you have to swipe a bank card to get into. Just be aware of your surroundings.
Beside, there are few places that require cash. I usually carry a $20 cash and a credit card that should get me through a day
I just plain don't use ATMs. Actually I can't use an ATM even if I wanted to; by my own design.. sort of.
I don't keep a bank card and I've never set up pin numbers on my credit cards to allow them to be used to draw cash.
