thoughts on using Kali Key in ar pistol

I have been considering converting my 300bo over to a bolt action so I can still utilize the detachable mag function. My question ,I guess to be a considered permanent conversion, If I removed the gas tube and plugged the hole in the gas block would that be enough to NOT easily converted back? I have other ar's so I have other bolt carriers that would make it too easy to convert back if I left the gas tube in place. Thoughts? or should I just stay with the fixed mag?

There is no requirement for such a conversion to be remotely "permanent".

Something that can be very quickly reversed like an adjustable gas block probably isn't good enough because they could argue that it is still "semiautomatic".

But, anything that disables the gas system and would require any degree of "gunsmithing" to re-enable should suffice.

So, basically something that requires a gunsmith license to do commercially (as opposed to a dealer only FFL).

What you suggest sounds like it would fit the bill to me.

Of course, with SAFE, nobody really knows what it really means, not lawyers, DAs, cops, or even the legislators who wrote it.

But, in several years of enduring this POS, to my knowledge nobody has ever been prosecuted for anything like what you suggest, so it's probably pretty safe.

thanks for your insight. kali key website has a section about new york but they leave the "permanent" part kind of up in the air other than suggesting filling in the bolt heads on their mount so you can't take it back off the bolt carrier.

Agreed. I think most reasonable cops wouldn’t even look twice.
