The State of Emergency explicitly forbids any motel, hotel or dwelling with multiple residences from entering into a contract for the purpose of housing migrants or asylum seekers. Along with appearance tickets, civil penalties can be for up to $2,000 per asylum seeker.

The State of Emergency also directs the Sheriff of Tioga County to make limited stops to notify persons suspected of transporting migrants or asylum seekers into the County

Broome County did the same thing. Orangeburg got a judge to tell the city to stuff it, so NYC had to find somewhere else to send the illegal immigrants. The Broome/Tioga area is an obvious target, always has been.

What concerns me is that they're only sending men - no women or children. That seems like a recipe for a major surge in crime.

Schuyler county was suppose to vote today to keep the State of Emergency on, so they wont be able to send them to Schuyler county, either.

In NYC they are kicking kids out of their own gyms.

Imagine sending your kid to school, with a gym full of unvetted illegal migrants. You can't even get inside these schools as a parent without checking in at the office.

They've been protesting, city is temporarily reversing course and moving migrants already at 4 schools to Touro College (private Jewish school). Only room for 450 there, which is days worth of arrivals if that. They are being flown into NYC from Texas as well as bused.

The only thing these Chinese demonstrate is that people from all over the world can get in our open southern border.

Personally I'm just about the least concerned about these Chinese men coming in compared to the rest of the illegal invaders. They may be some of the best of the lot. The idea that the CCP is deliberately training and sneaking them in is ridiculous. If they were agents of the CCP, they'd be flying in with a visa and a cover. You know there are nearly 300,000 Chinese in the USA on foreign student visas alone? Many of them older graduate students. The CCP basically owns entire university departments in the United States and can put whoever it wants in them, whenever it wants, for however long it wants. Then there are all the multibillion dollar, multinational US companies in critical industries now owned by China outright. Like Smithfield Foods, now a division of Wanzhou Guoji, or many pharmaceutical and natural resources companies. It's likely that a handful of CCP agents have made the trek for intelligence purposes, but they are probably just as interested in spying on their own citizens on the journey as gathering intel on the dismal state of our open border. There would be no reason to send agents at scale on this risky journey when they can send in as many as they want in perfect safety through open paths.

Chinese immigrants at least tend to commit very little crime and these guys are much more likely to have a legitimate political asylum/persecution claim. The ones coming up from Ecuador through the Darien Gap are probably resourceful and have no love for China.

Don't get me wrong, deport them all, and it's ridiculous that our southern border is open to the whole world, but it's not hundreds of Chinese sneaking into Texas that has me concerned, it's millions of Latin Americans and thousands upon thousands of Haitians and Africans.

It's as if there were billboards all over the world advertising "come to America!" They are coming from all over the world. How do they get to mexico in the first place? How do all these people survive and/or get the funds to travel to mexico?

This is not rocket science. It's not that hard to get to Latin America. For PRC citizens, most of them fly to Ecuador where they can visit totally visa-free. Some fly to Colombia where they can get a visa on arrival or online. Flights from Beijing to Quito are less than $1,500 right now. From either place they can find guides to travel overland to the Darien Gap at Panama, then join the regular old caravans to cross into North America and overland to the Texas border. The Darien Gap is the probably the hairiest part of the journey right now but they are well-prepared.

Most of those coming over have some resources but even Chinese peasants have extreme savings habits. Wages have gone up a lot in China. Even the poorer folk could afford the journey with family support with several months of savings.

Declaring a state of emergency should entail a risk to the official who declares it.

Like within 6 months there has to be an election, and if the voters don't agree it was a real emergency, then you are booted out of office and barred from ever holding a position in government again.

I bet there would be a lot fewer "emergencies" if they had to put their job on the line.
