TLR-1 HL v. OLIGHT PL-Pro

Should I get the TLR-1 HL or the OLIGHT PL-Pro Valkyrie?

This will be for a pistol. I like the OLIGHT mostly because it is rechargeable, but I'm thinking getting a holster compatible with TLR will be a lot easier.

Anyone own either of these and have any opinions? Any idea how long the batteries last in the TLR?

I used to be a lumen whore as well (still am) but also want candela.

And the O-light drops half its lumens due to heat very fast, so if they say 1,000 lumens. Ince it gets to a certain temp it thermo regulates its self and drops down to 500 lumens.

Then factor in that olight is kind of lacking in the candela category

Yea I dont really care about lumens here. Both are more than enough. More concerned with the battery life. I like the rechargeable option. Don't want to have to keep buying special batteries for the TLR on a regular basis.

I mean its it special batteries, they are cr123.

Literally just bought a 12 pack for $27 (can get them for $20 on Amazon).

And if I'm not mistaken Olight rechargeable batteries are not user serviceable..

So if you dont want to deal with special batteries, well their rechargeables are... special batteries. Yea they should last a good amount of time but hopefully you don't have one die

I have the TLR-1 HL on my G20C as my bedstand handgun. Next to it is a Safariland ALS G20/TLR-1 OWB holster for night walks around the property/walking the dog. That's an extreme case, but I can't imagine any light mounted gun being IWB friendly.

With the correct holster and belt you get used to it then it really isnt bad

@Chevusa your going to want to look for something with a concealment "claw" and for even better help with comfort and concealment a "wedge"

I'd go check out phlster, they are a good holster company to start with

500-1000 lumen, isn't that really extreme for indoor use? I have a lopro mini on an ar pistol rated at 220. Granted I know that's not alot for outside, but if I flash on a mirror I definitely get blinded.

it's not all about lumens... candela also play a factor.

Example, surefire x300u the older 600 lumens model actually looked brighter than the xh35 (I believe it was the 35 or its the 30) model that came out in the 1,000 lumen version

Thats because the x300u had more candela, which is the measurement of the intensity at a single point (called the hot spot, while lumens is just the overall light output)

Another good example would be Modlite and surefire between the surefire m600df and Modlite OKW

The m600df has about 1,250 candela and around 16,000 candela (if I recall correctly)

But the OKW has about 680 lumens and around 69,000 candela.

But here is a comparison of the lights



And for a closer Lumens comparison here is the Modlite PLH (I dont think it's the V2 which has better output) so if it is the first gen the output is as follows, about 1,500 lumens and 29,000 candela
