My issue with this stuff isn't that you're trying to help someone with reassignment actually. My issue is that a child can't make this decision. You know how many bad calls I made as a kid? You're going to let a kid have their dick chopped off only to potentially later regret it in life? Let's be realistic -- see if it's something the kid grows out of or not.

If not, then support them when they're an adult. I'm fine with that, just not when they're a kid.

Even taking the hormones/puberty blockers is really bad and generally makes you have no sex drive and lose the ability to get an erection. This causes much unhappiness moving forward in life. For women testosterone causes other issues including irritability and increased sex drives. It essentially turns a teenage girl into an angry little whore.

I for one have taken pretty damn good care of myself, and so did my parents. Not to say I live in a bubble, but I have a good sense of what is good versus bad to my body. I'm hoping I live to be in the 80's... if not, then oh well, I can't say I didn't try.

I've said for many years that I knew everything there was to know about everything when I was 18. Somehow I've managed to forget 90% of that wisdom in the last 25 years. There's a good reason that minors should be barred from permanent, life altering decisions.

My thoughts are if gender is fluid and what you have between your legs means nothing then so does the term gender. Why don’t we just stop using the term altogether and solve the fighting.
