Agreed, but consider this: If she had brought the gun to work and had stopped the shooter how much you want to bet that she'd be fired, had her gun confiscated, and then drug into court for violating state firearms laws? Still, I suppose it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

I've actually mentally thought out scenarios similar to this.

I've often made a hypothetical scenario where I carried to work (it's against company policy, so this is hypothetical) and there was an active shooter, and I was in a position to have a good chance at intervening or escaping safely. Knowing if I intervened it would also mean I get fired on the spot because that's what would likely happen.

(Another purely hypothetical scenario)
Or worse. Your out running errands and your kid gets sick at school. You are carrying and concealed very well. You figure no big deal I can be in and out in 2 mins and on my way. While picking up little Timmy you hear gunshots down the hall. What would you do would you just take your kid and escape or intervene And go to prison.

It sucks. This is why I hate anti gun laws and policies. You are constantly in a moral and practical conundrum where your damned if you do and damned if you don't.

I think if I was that concerned I would call in sick that day or notify the authorities. Why willingly go to an environment if you truly believe a coworker is going to go postal?

What do you do? You keep your handgun concealed and worry about yourself only. Only pull it out if the shooter is near you and you have no avenue of escape.

Why? Because your mission is to go home at night. Without you, your family struggles to eat. The hell with everyone else. They aren’t going to support your family when you get locked up. In fact, they’ll lobby for more gun control.

It sounds harsh and probably goes against every moral code you have hardwired into your brain but staying out of jail is part of survival as well. The other coworkers and parents are totally fine with gun free zones since it isn’t a priority for them to try and remove the laws and policies.

I would escape with my holstered weapon if I had the chance to. I would only engage if the choice was death or jail.

I've thought about this stuff before too. If you intervened and stopped the threat then yes you might get fired and/or arrested. BUT you and others would be alive. I don't want to seen anyone get jammed up protecting people but how could this not play out positive in the news. Guy with a gun in a gun free zone saves lives by shooting a bad guy with a gun in a gun free zone who's shooting people.

As stated above though you're first priority is you and your family.

I don't think there is is any "might" about it. I think it's a sure thing you get arrested and/go to jail. It really sucks. @Willjr75 has the right idea. It sucks but you have to look out for yourself and family first.
