Cleck
.308 Win
As you all know, I recently moved to the Glock fam w/ the 48, an upgrade over my Shield. I also moved from 40 to 9. I can't remember if I posted my first time shooting the gun here, but the results were...less than ideal (for me, I'm a perfectionist). I hit every shot left of the target. I know I wasn't pushing the trigger, I shot left no matter my finger placement.
Take 2: got a nice DeSantis cc holster for SS here, so now I've gotta get out and shooting the 48 more if I am going to carry it. Can't be a liability. I'll say this right now, I HATE the factory sights. My brain doesn't like em, and I feel like there's too much slop between the post and the rear sight when aligning them, too much room for error L/R for me. I need (want?) new ones.
Went to GCL the other day w/ a friend, and he brought some stuff too, most notably a G19 w/ a Holosun red dot on it. Also 9. I'll post the pics, explain, then I'll let you tell me what you think.
First few mags. Pretty consistently left, we can agree? I might add that he also shot the gun, hit left as well. He shoots a hell of a lot more than I do, doing weekly GCL shoots.
I'll explain this one w/ the next pic.
Another mag or 2, all the shots went left again, unless I specifically aimed "more right", but not the correct way. All of those shots are in Group 1
Group 2 is the G19 w/ the red dot. It was hitting right, so we brought it down and to the left.
Group 3 is the new group after adjusting the red dot.
So it seemed that the red dot was definitely more accurate than the sights out of the box, so I wanted to try something, I decided to challenge myself w/ 1 mag. I pulled out a new sheet out of my folder
10 shots, 4 targets. I clearly yanked 2 shots, but hitting all of the bigger circles, I felt slightly better. I don't think I can do this w/ my gun. This was all done at 7y
For the record, I have arthritis in my hand/wrist and it was pretty sore after shooting the RIA 45 and just from shooting in general. I had a decent tremor going on.
What do you guys think? While not perfect, I think the red dot drastically improved the placement of the shots, or did it just make me think it was gonna?
When I was taking my class this summer, I borrowed an instructor's 19 that had a nice aftermarket sight on it, I think it was this TruGlo Tritium Pro setup:
TruGlo Tritium Pro Night Sights | Best Glock Accessories | GlockStore.com The front sight is a big circle that lined up perfectly in a u-shaped cutout in the rear sight. I shot that one fine.
I wish I could shoot more Glocks w/ upgraded sights on them to be sure. Even putting a Nikon Spur onto the 48 would be costly, since a rail needs to be mounted. I'm wondering if just going w/ the TruGlo will be the way to go.
Thoughts?
