At yesterday's Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) questioned Deputy AG Kristen Clarke about why voter ID laws were considered racist by many on the left.
Actually, it can be answered rather easily, but it isn't the "correct" answer. She didnt answer that simple question.
... Of course it cannot be answered but the issue looks great on twitter and cnn.
You are right,...I wanted to say that could not be answered while contending her position.Actually, it can be answered rather easily, but it isn't the "correct" answer.
Simple, honest answer : No, ID is not racist, sexist, homophobic, arachnaphobic, or anything else.
I would be willing to wager that "poor" people of any race will have a state issued "benefit" card complete with photograph. I would have no problems with this as a suitable ID as long as the penalties for forgery are the same as other state issued identification. So, they're telling me a black person can't afford $9.00? Right....pull my other leg.
