Oh, I don't think the "Krauts" plugged the barrels, or sabotaged weapons.
But they sure did set them to explode when someone picked them up.
Probably not guns as much as Helmets and such, I would expect. They probably had too few guns to waste them like that.

For the first time in a long time, I really don't have any imminent want for another gun. I've always had a niche I felt I "needed" to fill with some gun or another. All those niches are filled at this point. What I'm doing now is setting aside a few dollars every month from my fun budget to really splurge on a special, heirloom quality gun in a couple of years.
My real love is for wheelguns. I'm planning on getting a Freedom Arms single-action revolver. I'm either going for a 5.5" Premier grade Model 97 in .45 Colt (light and handy 5-shooter) or a 6" Premier grade Model 83 (big, powerful 6-shooter) in .475 Linebaugh. Guess it all depends on how much arthritis I want as an old man.

I think he bought it from someone who had it in their collection. They were thinking it was originally a carry back maybe or something since everything matches -- he was explaining a lot of the time with Lugers they're a match for whatever parts someone has to assemble one. Uncommon to have factory matching parts serials wise (If I remember correctly) which is why they thought it was a carry back.

Several years ago, a guy that I worked with was cleaning out the attic at his parents home after his father died. His father was a retired Army officer (colonel?). WW II vet. He opened a box and there was a late 1930's Walther P-38, in original holster, matching spare magazine. Magazines were still loaded with 1943 headstamped ammo. There was also a Colt manufactured 1911. Marked US Government Property. Based on serial number, made 1925. Included was a box of spare parts, including a barrel. I made him offers but he wouldn't sell any of it. I did get a couple of boxes of 1943 .45 Ball ammo

Would like to have a model 70 built like the one Hathcock carried. I've been window shopping Model 70 receivers on gun broker. Not cheap...
Ruger Gunsite Scout. Only issue is I want one in .308 with a walnut stock, and a blued finish. They only offer a .308 with a wood stock in stainless steel.
Finally a M1A. I'm not a fan of the NY compliant full length rifles. They look funny with the front sight setup. The shorter "squad" rifles don't look bad, but I really want a full length rifle.
