Whopper Plopper (top water lure)

I watch NDyakangler a lot on YouTube and he has a strong affinity for the Whopper Plopper top water lure. I just bit the bullet and ordered 3 different WPs, as well as a Berkley Choppo to give a try.

This might be the first time I've ever spent more than $10 on a single lure. Hurray for Amazon gift cards.

Has anyone used a WP/Choppo? Any recommendations on its presentation? I've been watching some "how-to" videos and it seems pretty straight forward and simple to use.

I can honestly say I haven't eaten a single thing from Burger King in over 20 years. I don't visit McDonaldsmore than a few times a year, and only then for a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit. Those are delicious, but that's the only thing I ever go there for. Wendy's only very rarely gets my money too.

I really did think this was going to be some funny story about how the OP got caught pooping on the side of the road or something.

Hmmm. I think you're missing out. Fast food is one of life's great pleasures.

A friend has one and was raving about it for the same reasons as you. I know he’s fished with it here and there and never caught anything with it. I think it was $18.00.

The only time I've had any real success with top water plugs, was bass fishing on lakes at night in the hot days of summer, casting from a boat parallel to the shore.
Caught some real nice lunkers that way.

I’ve had great success with the Whopper Ploppers in the evening when the lake is like glass. Been using them for a couple years and between them and Hula Poppers, they are my “go to” top water lures followed closely by weedless frogs. Throw them as close to shore as possible to mimic frogs jumping into the lake. Weedless frogs are best for this as you can cast them directly onto shore and drag them into the lake to really get the effect. My 2 cents
