Why clinging to Rights in the wake of Tragedy matters

"The event in Las Vegas is so, so sad; so much pain for those poor folks and all their families.
Right on schedule, though, while innocent people are still bleeding, the anti-gun / anti-2nd Amendment news media and politicians are pushing their political agenda.
I was not aware that anybody still watched network news or many of these channels these days, but many of you have notified me that NBC, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, etc. are using footage from our bump fire stock videos to make it look like a few bucks will convert an AK or AR15 to a "real" fully auto firearm.
It sort of does, but not really. I actually don't care for them that much and other than to review them in videos, have never left one on any of my firearms. Anyway, they are perfectly legal stocks and are available at all the major sporting goods stores. I probably could take legal action against these media outlets if I wanted, and many of you have encouraged me to do so.
I've been through these cycles my entire adult life, so nothing the media or politicians try to pull surprises me much, or hardly even gets my attention. It's why I belong to seven or eight gun rights organizations.
I hesitate to give the media more "ammunition," since they already think anything "semi-auto" or "full-auto" is like a nuclear weapon, but in truth the whacko could have carried seven or eight fully loaded 1860 Henry leverguns (Civil War era technology) up to that room and created a similar massacre.
If there's a "gun control" / "people control" measure, other than a police state, that will totally prevent this sort of crazy from doing something like this, let's hear the plan, and we'll all weigh in on it and let our representative know how we want them to vote.
Call me pessimistic, but I don't expect many logical suggestions from the "emotion-based" 2nd Amendment haters.
I encourage everybody to ignore the media and political drama and to think for yourself, even if you come to the conclusion that more gun control / people control is the solution. Please try not to let emotion guide your thinking, though. The survival of the 1st and 2nd Amendments should not be based on emotion; otherwise both would have been gone long ago."

I have never been a fan of the wording, "Clinging to Rights"
Our Rights, our laws, our Founding Documents are what we are as a collective Country. They are what make us great; not the diversity of our people as some out there think. Without ALL of our Rights, we are no different than other Nations. Yep, I really do, deep down inside, think we are awesome. We are Awesome because our Founding Fathers were brilliant, they saw far into the future and came up with the correct words for some of the greatest Rights known to man all on one sheet of paper.
I cherish what we have. All of them are as important as the next. All of those Americans who feel is is okay to dismantle what we have, well, they have zero understanding of what we have.
As for the Second Amendment, it does not bother me that there are some that hate it. It bothers me none that they hate all guns. I am more than fine with that. I just don't care. What I care about is simple; who in the hell do these people think they are that they believe their wants overrate my RIGHTS?!

I disagree. It bothers me. The 2A was put into place as a means of our populace to protect itself, in a broad sense. The founding fathers did not want us to be defenseless against foreign or even domestic enemies, having come from a war with England.
To lay down our arms is to forget one of the founding principles of America; namely, that we are in a willful union. To give up arms is a step in the direction of diminishing that willingness to engage in this great experiment of democracy. To give up on the second amendment is a submission to government, and not a willingness to participate.
What do you disagree with?

It's concerning that there is a push to throw away the bill of the rights so quickly. Not even just 2A. What about 4A? Even 1A there were calls to curb several months ago during the stupid tiki torch march BS that was going on.
At what point are people going to stand up and say "These rights we have, are not optional. They are part of who we are as a nation."
